Today’s Czech Republic was created after the Second World War from the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The Czech Republic (Bohemia and Moravia) from the areas of Czechia and Slovakia. On January 1st, 1993, the two countries again separated. The Czech Republic shares long borders with Austria 362 km, Germany 646 km, Poland 658 km, and Slovakia 215 km.
